This lights looks stunning when setup properly, watching entertainment content like movies more exciting with the colourful glow, this light strip was stight forward to install/stick to, but the hard part came latter setting up the camera controls took some trial an error, downloaded the app the light offer much more functions, overall the build quality is top and performance is solid.

I bought this kit to be installed behind my TV in the living room, i really love led lights and all my house is set with Alexa in every room :)I was missing this effect behind the Tv and so I bought these lights that seemed cheaper than the others brands much expensive.The installation was really easy and they work really well with alexa, The effect they have behind the tv it's amazing, I have been using them for almost two months without any problem and the colors are beautiful.

Saw these on a YouTube tech channel and gave them a go as they were much cheaper than the Philips alternative. The leds are nice and bright and provide a great backlight to my tv for films and gaming.Attaching the lights is easy however the camera which reads the colours needs a firm base to rest on and I ended up attaching with A plastic block attached to the back of my tv with a 3m sticky pad. The calibration was a bit fiddly as well.Only other slight negative was the fact as the lights are powered by a plug so you either need to switch they off via the app or by Alexa/ Google smart assistantAll in all I’m happy with the product and happy with my first experience of Govee products

I have bought this item and found it to be very brightly coloured. All features other than the colour matching work very well. On the colour matching I ran the calibration (I found it better to leave the TV on to do this as I have glass underneath the TV, so there was reflection) and then ran a youtube RGB test screen. I found that the GREEN was simply not picked up correctly, neither was YELLOW. RED and BLUE were very good and bright. I have contacted the support through the app and (although slow over christmas period) they believe that I have a faulty item and are replacing it. So that's great service! Overall it's never going to beat the Philips built in ambience, but for the price it's great and the music feature is the best of all, which is great if watching music video, or even for karaoke :-)

 Nice idea but unfortunately it really just doesn't work very well.Reasonably easy to install although lacking in instructions in some areas, such as which end of the strip goes on which side of the TV? The tiny manual made a reference to having the box on the "right" side of the TV however after testing it actually needed to go on the left (when looking at the TV from the front). Also no information about how close to the edge of the TV you should stick the strip.Calibration is awkward as the app suggests turning on the room lights and turning off the TV which lead to a huge amount of reflection off my TV, making calibration almost impossible. As this uses a fish-eye lens it requires you to drag a set of 5 points onto a very distorted curved image. There is simply no way to make a trapezoid shape fit a curved fisheye image. There are almost no other options to tweak calibration or settings.Calibrating right to the edge of the TV also didn't work well when watching widescreen films that placed a black bar top and bottom. Calibrating for the letterboxed image did seem to improve things slightly, but it's very fiddly to do as the calibration interface doesn't let you zoom or pan.The LED strip also appears to be quite poor quality - green colours are very washed out and it struggles to do yellows or oranges. Often it does pink instead of red, even though the strip is capable of red when choosing manual colour mode.Even on the highest sensitivity setting the strip along the top appears to be active in three segments only (sides are two segments), left, right and centre. Whichever colour activates that segment seems to make the strip light up but it doesn't feel very natural when watching something with multiple colours on screen at once. See the attached video for an example.The rate that it changes is also quite slow (even on highest sensitivity). Watching a Star Wars lightsaber battle frequently results in flashes after the lightsabers pass by.Also when no image is detected (or tv is off) then you either get a white LED colour, or something random from whatever reflection it managed to pick up.Speaking of reflections, it's almost useless when watching TV with the lights on as it spends more time matching colours with reflections than what's on the screen.That said, you do get some ambient lighting that changes *generally* with what is happening on the screen... the colours just might not match and the timings might be a bit random.The music sync mode does seem to work quite well but I bought this for the video matching, which just isn't anywhere near as functional as it should be.Definitely not as functional as some DIY systems using Hyperion or Lightberry, but it does partially work and is a lot easier (and probably cheaper) to install.Still deciding if I'm returning it or not... I'll give it a few more hours and see if it grows on me.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. The item arrived in a used condition and only one side of the led strips work. Setting up an account is a nightmare, even though you have entered a correct email address and password, it still says it's wrong. The camera on top of the set is very obtrusive and trying to calibrate the unit for a 2.35:1 screen aspect ratio doesn't work. The colour accuracy is way off, there is a lag between what's on the screen and what the leds reflect. I cannot recommend this item at all, avoid.

Unfortunately mine arrived faulty. The colour detection was terrible and it wouldn't detect greens at all. I messed with the calibration for ages and all the sensitivity options. I contacted govee support and they were fantastic. A replacement is on its way and I will update this review when it arrives.Added 6th Feb 2020Had the replacement for a few days and it has the same problem as the first. The unit doesn't detect green, showing blues most of the time. The software or the control box needs a way of calibrating the colour detection and tweaking settings because as it stands it isn't very good.Still can't fault Govee support. They were helpful and polite.
